Love Feather
Bird feathers are traditionally used in smudging ceremonies to fan the smoke into the space or over the person or object being cleansed. Our smudging feather is crafted with intention, prayer, and incense burning by David Guitierrez, a spiritual leader and medicine man from Mexico, in the Teocalli Quetzaltcoatl tradition. The materials used in the feather arrangement—a cockatoo feather, a quartz crystal, and a deer leather tassel—are powerfully symbolic, representing the connection between Mother Earth (the deer, a sacred animal in native traditions) and Heaven (the feather from a cockatoo, a species known for being especially loving), with a beating heart between Earth and Heaven (the quartz crystal).
How to use
After lighting the cleansing herbs and generating smoke, use the underside of the smudging feather to fan the smoke into the space or over the person or object being cleansed.
Materials
Cockatoo feather (humanely gathered from aviaries and pet owners; no birds are harmed in this process), deer leather, quartz crystal. The feather plus tassel is approximately 10.5 in. long (feather only is approximately 7.5 in. long)
